The Red Scare
The Red scare was in the 1950's, it was caused by a senator named Joseph McCarthy, when he was determined to find all the Russians in the country., so he could stop all the spies. When rumors spreed, people started to worry, it effected business, people that were even suspected, even if it was the tiniest thing, it would become hard to earn a job. This was a cause because the people thought that is the Russians were going to try to take over the country, having new technology, better guns, everything had to be bigger rand better than the Russians.
The Yalta Conference
The Yalta Conference was February 4-11 1945 at a Russian resort. The people involved were, Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin. They were trying to figure out what to do with Germany after WW2, no one was able to go to war again, so they made a plan to help Germany, by splitting it up between America, USSR,Great Britain , and France . The plan was to go to Germany, help rebuild, help the people, and then leave. The USSR had other ideas, they thought that after a while, the other countries would get tried of supporting Germany and leave so that the USSR could take all of the land.
Occupational Zones
After WW2, Germany was in ruins, people were dying, and others were fleeing, in less than a year, 375,000 German people were to leave and go to America. But, the "victors" of the war, went to Germany to rebuild the people, the buildings, and the government. This was a way to prevent another war. There were four county's that went to Germany, these would include America, France, Great Britten, and the USSR. The idea was to leave after they had Germany up and running. But, the USSR had another idea.
Britten, France, and the USA were all rebuilding and feeding and giving aid to the people, The USSR was treating its part like a communist part. The USSR did not bring food, supply's, and controlled the government with no intention to leave.
This lead to the cold war because the other country's were wanting to help, not take over Germany.
